 Product Description

Fiber optic patch cord (alternatively fiber optic jumper) refers to both ends of an optical cable being fitted with connectors on the ends that enable the end-to-end connection of the optical path; when only one end is fitted with a connector, it is called a pigtail. At the heart is the glass core for conveying light. The diameter of the core in multimode fiber is from 50 μm to 65 μm, while the diameter of the core in single-mode fiber is from 8 μm to 10 μm. The core is surrounded by a glass cladding having a lower refractive index with respect to the core to confine the light within the core. An outer plastic jacket is provided in order to protect the assembly.
